On the special directives of Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the Water Corporation has completed comprehensive arrangements for uninterrupted water supply and drainage services across the city on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
According to a spokesperson for the Water Corporation, special measures have been taken to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience during the religious occasion. The arrangements cover residential areas as well as locations that experience a high influx of visitors, including graveyards, shrines, mosques, and other places of worship.
Chief Executive Officer of the Water Corporation, Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, stated that water supply across Karachi is being maintained without interruption. He added that special attention has been given to areas surrounding graveyards, shrines, mosques, and worship places, where large gatherings are expected during Shab-e-Barat.
The CEO further said that all complaints related to drainage issues around graveyards and worship places have been fully resolved to prevent waterlogging or sanitation problems. He emphasized that uninterrupted water supply will also be ensured throughout the night of Shab-e-Barat, particularly for the traditional practice of sprinkling water on graves.
To facilitate this, special arrangements have been made through water tankers to prevent any shortage of water. These measures aim to provide relief to citizens and ensure smooth observance of the religious occasion.
Chief Operating Officer Engineer Asadullah Khan informed that drinking water stalls (Sabeels) have also been set up around graveyards to provide clean drinking water to visitors. He said these arrangements are being closely monitored to ensure effective service delivery.
According to the spokesperson, In-charge Hydrants Cell Ayaz Hussain Tanio is personally supervising all operational arrangements. Meanwhile, Focal Person to the Managing Director for the Hydrants Cell, Shehbaz Bashir, will remain present at graveyards and mosques to ensure continuous water availability.
The Water Corporation confirmed that water supply has been ensured at major graveyards across the city, including Wadi-e-Hussain, Mewa Shah, Isa Nagri, Sakhi Hassan, Muhammad Shah, New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Khamosh Colony, Sachal Goth, Pehlwan Goth, Korangi, Shah Faisal, and Model Colony.
