At least 15 people, including police officials, martyred in suicide attack on Kabal police station in Swat

Swat District Police Officer Muhammad Omar said explosion occurred near Kabal Chowk.

At least 15 people, including police officials, were martyred and 22 others injured in a suicide attack on Swat’s Kabal police station on Sunday, police said.

Malakand Deputy Inspector General Syed Fida Hussain told that the suicide bomber tried to enter Kabal Police Station but was stopped by officers on duty. He said the attacker then detonated explosives near the station’s main gate.

Assistant Commissioner Kabal confirmed that the blast killed fifteen people including police officials and injured 22 others.

Swat District Police Officer Muhammad Omar said the explosion occurred near Kabal Chowk.

He added that investigators recovered a human head from the scene, which they believe belonged to the suspected suicide bomber.

Hussain also said a protest by local youths was underway near the area when the explosion occurred.
