PESHAWAR: Three militants, including a notorious target killer, were shot dead during an intelligence-based operation jointly conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu region and Lakki Marwat police in the Darra Pegho Khel area, officials said on Sunday.
According to CTD officials, the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants involved in attacks on police, security forces, and civilians.
One of the slain militants was identified as Muhammad Nazir alias Mujahid, a target killer allegedly involved in the murder of traffic police constables and a CTD official. The other two militants were identified as Fawadullah alias Muaz and Afnan Khan alias Afnani, both wanted in multiple cases related to the targeted killing of security personnel.
During the operation, security forces recovered weapons including a Kalashnikov rifle, two 9mm pistols, mobile phones, and three cards linked to a banned organisation from the militants’ possession.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, along with the Additional Inspector General of Police CTD, praised the CTD and police teams for successfully carrying out the operation.
The IGP stated that the ground had been made increasingly difficult for terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reaffirmed that operations against militancy would continue until terrorism was completely eradicated from the province.
