The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab on Saturday nabbed 10 terrorists during multiple operations in the province.

Among the arrested terrorists include a key commander of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Qasim Afghani, the CTD officials reported.

Added that a total of 117 Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) were launched across the Punjab province with five terrorists being arrested from Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha.

The CTD Punjab spokesman highlighted that these arrests not only thwarted potential acts of terrorism but also led to the seizure of a considerable cache of weaponry and explosives.

Among the items confiscated were explosive devices, detonators, hand grenades, mobile phones, and a substantial amount of cash.

The arrested individuals were identified as Agha Numan, Atta-ul-Rehman, Osama, Sadiq, Shahnawaz, Saifan, Safdar, Abdul Haq, and Qasim Afghani.

Authorities revealed that these individuals had sinister plans aimed at attacking critical installations, underlining the severity of the threat they posed.

The CTD’s diligent efforts extended beyond these specific operations, as they conducted a staggering 359 combing operations throughout the week.

These operations resulted in nearly 30,000 individuals being interrogated and 225 suspects being arreasted.

This reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Punjab.
