Fashion designer Stella McCartney was flabbergasted by King Charles after she mispronounce his name at a Buckingham Palace luncheon prior to the UN climate change summit Cop27.

Politicians and business leaders from throughout the world attended the reception that the King hosted. Notable attendees included Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and John Kerry, the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.

The King, who had previously met the designer and collaborated with her on numerous occasions while he was Prince of Wales, was reportedly introduced to her by Mr. Sunak. The designer is the daughter of Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.

Stella remarked, “Your Majesty, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do any more,” as Charles gave her a kiss on the cheek.

She said, “I think I’m supposed to do this now” before performing a deep curtsy and letting out a little squeal, leaving the King and PM giggling.

Given that their kids attended the same school, Mr. Sunak disclosed that he frequently encountered the fashion designer.

The Prime Minister said, “It’s all about what you’ve done,” as Charles thanked them for coming to the ceremony.

The King was hailed for his “longstanding and far-sighted leadership” in other parts of the reception and for pressing political and commercial leaders to take action against climate change.
