Kate Middleton to take over as colonel of regiment

In what the King referred to as a shake-up of military patronages, the Kate Middleton will soon assume the role of Colonel of a regiment for the first time.

While Prince William transitions to the position of Colonel of the Welsh Guards, Kate will succeed him as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

Richard Palmer writes that “Queen Camilla, who is already Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles infantry regiment, is also becoming the figurehead of one of the Household Division units for the first time.”

According to him, she will be filling Prince Andrew’s former position as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, which he held until January.

The adjustments were announced by Buckingham Palace in a statement, which also stated that Trooping the Colour, the King’s first ceremonial Birthday Parade, would take place on June 17 in 2023.
