Meghan Markle became ‘scapegoat’ of Royals
With their contentious projects, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle divided fans and analysts and made headlines throughout 2022.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received harsh criticism for their docuseries, interviews, and other initiatives and events throughout the year. They also won a prestigious award for their charity work and protest against alleged royal “racist.”
Some royal fans and detractors accused the California-based couple of “selling their souls with breathless vulgarity,” while others accused the Sussexes of exploiting their royal connections to land lucrative deals with streaming giants in order to leak information about their royal relative’s treatment of them.
Many detractors think the former Suits star and her royal spouse found their practise of harassing the royal family to be a profitable business because they are said to have profited greatly from it. Few people, however, made fun of Lilibet and Archie’s parents for portraying themselves as victims.
Bower, the author of “Revenge: Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Windsors,” criticised the couple, who “loudly claimed” that their departure from the royal family was made in order to “protect their privacy.”
Bower comments on their recent magazine appearances, Spotify contract, and Netflix documentary, saying that Meghan and Harry “have sold their souls with frantic vulgarity.”
The Sussexes’ Netflix documentary, which was released in the final month of 2022, sparked a lot of reactions. While many fans of the Sussexes came out in support of the couple and showered them with love for sharing their very private and intimate details, thousands of people criticized the couple for wasting audiences’ time with their repetitious and self-admiring stunts.
The couple’s supporters might want to defend them in light of the show’s serious treatment of racism in the media and tensions within the royal family.
Following a public attack that her supporters claim was extremely disproportionate and proof of racialized bigotry, the Duchess of Sussex has continued to be the subject of media attention. However, this well-known tale is now occurring on US land.
Politico included Sam Bankman-Fried, Elizabeth Holmes, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Kanye West on a list of “narcissists” who the public appears to have lost interest in.
The piece was written by Boston-based contributor Joanna Weiss, who received harsh criticism for it and was called “demented” and “casual misogynoir” on social media.
“It’s not that Harry and Meghan don’t have a story worth telling; the prejudice they faced from the royal family and the British press was awful. But telling the story ad nauseam has diminishing returns,” noted Andrew Wallenstein, president and chief media analyst at Variety Intelligence Platform. However, the benefits of telling the narrative again diminish.
“At some point, even the dimmest of minds among their fans is going to tire of their Oh, woe is us’ routine as they play the victim card again and again.”
Meghan recently granted Variety an exclusive interview, which makes Variety’s intervention all the more important.
According to numerous reports, Harry and Meghan have lost a significant portion of their American supporters as a result of their constant jabs at the royal family.
