Buckingham Palace converted into a polling station over King Charles
Plans for King Charles‘ coronation have spurred fresh discussion on social media.
According to a late-Saturday announcement from Buckingham Palace, King Charles III’s coronation weekend will include a star-studded concert, a national “great supper,” and a volunteering effort in addition to the customary ceremony and royal processions.
The palace’s disclosure of information regarding the coronation weekend aroused fresh discussion.
One fan commented, “He has to step down!!!! You cannot be King and have been DIVORCED!!!! THE MONARCHY MUST STAY CLEAN BLOODLINE. That is why King Edward stepped down! CHURCH AND PARLIMENT LAWS SINCE 1500! THAT IS WHY CHARLES WILL STEP ASIDE! THE QUEEN , ANNE, CHARLES, ANDREW AND WILLIAM AND HARRY ALL KNOW THIS.”
King Charles, who will be formally crowned on May 6, reportedly still has the right to be king since Queen Elizabeth II permitted him to wed Camilla Parker Bowles, a divorcee.
According to the 1772 Royal Marriages Act, the sovereign must give his or her consent before a member of the royal family marries. There is therefore no reason why Charles cannot be king if Queen Elizabeth had let Charles to marry Camilla despite their complicated past.
