Prince Harry claims to have killed 25 Talibans in Afghanistan
In his book Spare, Prince Harry, formerly known as “Captain Wales” in the royal military, made some startling revelations, stating that during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, he killed 25 Taliban fighters.
According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex wrote in his memoir that he did not view those who were slain “as people,” but rather as “chess pieces” that he had removed from the game board. According to reports, he served in Afghanistan while piloting an Apache assault chopper.
The Duke of Sussex claimed it was “not a reality that filled me with delight, but I was not ashamed either” when his book unintentionally appeared on Spanish shelves before its scheduled release.
The 38-year-old royal has detailed how many rebels he personally killed during the conflict in the nation, where he travelled in both 2007–2008 and 2012.
The Duke stated in his leaked memoirs, “Spare,” that he participated in six operations that “took human lives.”
Harry wrote: ‘And it seemed to me essential not to be afraid of that number. So my number is 25. It’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but nor does it embarrass me.’
Harry was first sent to Helmand province in 2007 as a forward air controller, but his initial deployment was cut short when an Australian magazine accidentally violated a media embargo. The Ministry of Defense announced his second deployment when he returned in 2012 with the assumption that he may focus on his current task without interference from the media.
