Prince Andrew fears eviction from his £30 million mansion
A ‘furious’ After King Charles reduced his income, Prince Andrew fears eviction from his £30 million Windsor mansion.
The disgraced Duke has reportedly told friends that he will no longer be able to afford maintenance at Royal Lodge after his brother reduced his grant, and that he may be forced to leave by the end of the summer.
The sprawling 30-room property in Windsor Great Park, about three miles from his late mother’s main residence Windsor Castle, is said to be in desperate need of renovation.
However, due to the loss of income since stepping down from official royal duties, Prince Andrew may struggle to find the funds to maintain the Grade II listed property.
Andrew was removed from official duties following the scandal involving allegations that he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre while friends with notorious abuser Jeffrey Epstein – allegations that he strenuously denies.
Andrew is said to have relied on the late Queen’s generosity before her death last year, surviving on private funds from the Duchy of Lancaster, last reported at £249,000 per year.
King Charles now owns the royal estate, and members of the royal family have been told to expect tighter budgets in the future.
“He’s not being explicitly kicked out, but it’s expected that he won’t be able to afford the maintenance,” a source close to Prince Andrew told Mail Online.
“Royal Lodge has a swimming pool, 98 acres of land, and is in need of repair.”
