Prince Harry
Prince Harry has questioned why people would give up their freedom in order to be famous.
When asked about the lengths the British press, photographers, and paparazzi will go to use him to get famous, Prince Harry stated in his book Spare that he doesn’t understand why they would want to be famous.
Prince Harry described how two photographers would relentlessly follow him and Prince William in the early 2000s: “… two fellas who weren’t famous, thinking it must be fabulous to be famous, trying to become famous by attacking and ruining the life of someone famous.”
The Duke of Sussex then interrogated them, asking, “Why did they want to be famous?” That was the thing I never understood. Because fame is the ultimate freedom? “What a joke!”
He then said: “Some kinds of fame provide extra freedom, I suppose, but royal fame was fancy captivity.”
Prince Harry then recounted how he thought that the two photographers, whom he referred to as Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber, “couldn’t grasp this” since they were “children.”
Spare, Prince Harry’s book, was released on January 10 and instantly became the fastest-selling biography in history.
