Secret meaning behind King Charles’ Coronation symbol
The official logo for King Charles’ Coronation was released ahead of the ceremony on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey.
The emblem is essentially the logo that will be used in all official marketing and communications surrounding the coronation and will be featured on merchandise and at key events such as the Westminster Abbey service and Windsor concert, as well as national events such as street parties and community gatherings.
The emblem, which consists of a blue crown encircled by red flowers and the words King Charles III, Coronation, 6 May 2023, represents more than just ornamentation.
Because the monarchy is famed for its symbolism, there is a secret purpose behind the design.
A rose for England, a shamrock for Northern Ireland, a daffodil for Wales, and a thistle for Scotland are among the blooms.
The flowers’ shapes come together to make the pattern for St Edward’s Crown, which will be put on the King’s head in Westminster Abbey. Sir Jony Ive, a British designer who formerly worked for Apple, chose the flowery motifs.
Sir Jony stated that the King’s “love of the planet, nature, and his deep concern for the natural world” motivated his team.
“The emblem speaks to the happy optimism of spring and celebrates the beginning of this new Carolean era for the United Kingdom,” he said. “The gentle modesty of these natural forms combine to define an emblem that acknowledges both the joyful and profound importance of this occasion.”
