King Charles ‘pushed’ to grant Prince Edward title of Duke of Edinburgh
According to a royal analyst, King Charles “didn’t intend” to grant his brother Prince Edward the title of Duke of Edinburgh as part of his efforts to “narrow down” the monarchy.
Richard Eden suggested on his Palace Secrets talk show that Prince Harry’s choice to bestow his children the titles of Prince and Princess may have “sabotaged” King Charles’ aspirations for a smaller monarchy.
He stated that when Harry and Meghan began using the prince and princess titles for their children, it became evident that this was not going to happen, and King Charles could barely explain not bestowing the title promised by their parents on Prince Edward.
“It was a big deal and I really think that was behind it,” he said.
Harry and Meghan made the news during the baptism of their daughter Lilibet.
Despite the fact that prominent members of the royal family were invited to the baptism, no one wanted to come to the United States for the occasion.
