Altaf Hussain, Renowned Pakistani Filmmaker, Passes Away
Renowned Pakistani filmmaker Altaf Hussain passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness. Hussain, who made significant contributions to the Pakistani film industry, had directed over 80 films throughout his career.
He had recently embarked on his latest project, “Tere Pyar Nu Salam.” Hussain began his filmmaking journey in 1969 with “Panchhi Te Pardesi,” which was not successful. However, he achieved notable success in 1981 with “Athra Puttar,” featuring prominent actors like Sultan Rahi, Asia, and Mustafa Qureshi. This film, along with “Saal Sahib,” became a hit that year.
His 1983 films—”Sahib Ji,” “Qudrat,” and “Lawaris”—further solidified his reputation, all featuring Anjuman and Ali Ejaz in lead roles. Additionally, “Anjuman,” which featured Noor Jehan’s popular songs and Sultan Rahi in a positive role, was widely acclaimed.
The year 1984 saw the release of around ten of his films, with “Chudiyan,” “Nikah,” and “Mehndi” standing out. His 1985 film, “Dhee Rani,” also gained popularity, as did “Noori” in 1988, with contributions from Anjuman, Yusuf Khan, and Ali Ejaz.
Altaf Hussain’s contributions to cinema were highly influential, and his work continues to be celebrated in the Pakistani film industry.
