Hajra Yamin Talks About Saba Hameed’s Performance & Noor Jahan’s Character

Hajra Yamin, a dedicated and talented Pakistani actress, is currently receiving widespread praise for her portrayal of Sumbul in the drama Noor Jahan.

Known for her powerful performances in notable dramas such as Teri Raza, Jalan, Mohabbat Chor Di Maine, Jindo, Ehd E Wafa, and Sevak, Hajra first entered the entertainment industry with the critically acclaimed film Pinky Mem Saab.

In a recent appearance on a YouTube show, Hajra opened up about her experience working with veteran actress Saba Hameed. During the interview, she discussed Saba Hameed’s strict yet professional attitude on set, along with her exceptional portrayal of Noor Jahan.

Hajra praised Saba’s brilliance and reflected on her performance, highlighting how it has shaped the character of Noor Jahan.

Talking about Saba Hameed, Hajra Yamin said, “I will be very honest, sometimes we think that this particular person is strict but there is a reason behind his/her strictness, maybe they fear others the most and experience the social anxiety, I am saying this in general because I also have social anxiety and people think that I am rude. Also, about Saba Hameed, I mean the talent that she has, the figure that she is, yes she was a bit intimidating and most of my work was with her but it was nice because Musadik was there and he guided everyone throughout”.

Speaking about her performance, Hajra added, “On the set, Saba Hameed was amazing, I mean I used to forget my lines but I have never seen Saba forgetting her lines, she was so good and her on-screen performance is looking much more amplified. She performed it so well and that’s why it looked larger than life on the television, she is brilliant, her tonality was perfect, she didn’t even scream in a single scene”.

Hajra Yamin mentioned that if given the choice, she might have selected Sumbul due to the character’s depth and complexity. She expressed her satisfaction with the role she was given but added that if she were older, she would have definitely chosen to play Noor Jahan. Despite the character’s negativity, Hajra admires Noor Jahan for being a strong and powerful woman.
