Sarwat Gilani urges young people to consider marriage in their 30s
Sarwat Gilani, a talented artist, activist, and outspoken figure, often addresses topics considered taboo in society. During her appearance on Rukhsat’s podcast, she shared her views on marriage, companionship, and generational traumas. Sarwat advised youngsters to wait until their 30s to get married, rather than rushing into it in their 20s. In Pakistan, people are often seen as “expired milk” after turning 24, but Sarwat urged Gen Z to break this mindset and bring about change.
Sarwat also spoke about how arranged marriages sometimes take an edge over love marriages. She said “There are no guarantees nowadays. People build expectations from zero in an arranged setting and that sometimes works while a 6-year-long love relationship can end within minutes. Sarwat herself is happily married to Fahad Mirza and shares three children with him.”

Sarwat advised youngsters to marry in their 30s rather than in their 20s. She said that “in your 20s you are still confused and discovering yourself thus waiting and being mature is important.”
