Maria B, one of Pakistan’s top fashion designers, has been very vocal in recent years about her opposition to the LGBTQ movement. Many Pakistanis support her for raising her voice in the name of Islam. She spoke up about an LGBTQ-related event in Lahore, which sparked rumors that authorities had served her a legal notice. Adding to the controversy, Instagram also removed the video she had posted from that event.

Breaking her silence on the matter, Maria B denied receiving any legal notice. In her statement, she said, “Did people really think I would be scared? For three years, I’ve been telling desi liberals that I am not afraid, because whatever I say is based on the Quran and Sunnah. I have not been served any notice, and I will continue to speak on these issues.”

She further added that the Transgender Act had already been declared un-Islamic by the Sharia Court, and that she would not stay quiet if she saw such activities again. “Desi liberals should stop celebrating. I will keep raising my voice for the protection of our parents and children. If needed, I will speak directly to the authorities. My stance is clear—I follow what the Quran teaches about the LGBTQ community.”
