Babar Azam smashes Matthew Hayden’s record of most runs in a maiden T20 World Cup
Pakistan captain Babar Azam shattered Australia's Matthew Hayden's record for most runs...
Pakistani skipper Babar Azam won hearts after he replied to a letter written by an 8-year-old boy addressing Pakistan’s cricket team when the Green Shirts lost against Australia in the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.
As shared by journalist Alina Shigri, on Twitter, the young fan, Haroon Suria, in his letter said he was “very proud” of the team and that he loves Babar. He also mentioned Azam’s jersey number — 56 — atop the page followed by a heart.
“Well played everyone, nice batting, bowling,” he wrote.
In an adorable yet humble manner, Suri also asked Babar to sign and send the autographs of the entire team. Here’s what the whole letter read: “Dear Pakistani team. I am very proud, I love you Babar Azam. Well played everyone… nice batting, bowling. Yesterday in the match, I felt proud that Pakistan is going to win. Then in the middle, I was nervous and in the end, I was frightened. Inshallah, in the future, we will win be captain and I will make sure to invite all of your team to my team. We will go to the finals.”
“Dear Babar, Please on paper, can you write all your team members signatures and send them to my house please,” he added.
The boy further expressed his desire to be the captain of the team in the future. “InshaAllah in the future I will be captain and I will make sure to invite all of your team to my team. We will go to the finals and win,” he wrote.

The skipper had a heartfelt response for the little fan and thanked the child for the “kind letter”.
In a reply, the captain said: “I ABSOLUTELY believe in you and you can achieve anything with your focus, belief, and hard work.”
Babar Azam also assured to send in all the signatures to the little fan but sweetly added, “I can’t wait to get YOUR autograph future Captain.”
