LAHORE: Mitchell Marsh of Australia will join the IPL’s Delhi Capitals after being ruled out of the rest of Pakistan’s limited-overs matches due to a hip injury, his country announced Wednesday.

The 30-year-old all-rounder was supposed to play a crucial role in the three-match One-Day International series, but he was unavailable for Tuesday’s game, which the visitors won.

“Marsh will leave the Australian squad in Pakistan to continue his recovery from a low-grade hip flexor injury and would not be available for remaining three matches,” Cricket Australia said.

Marsh will go to India to join the Delhi Capitals team, where physiotherapist Pat Farhart, a former Australian and current New South Wales player, would oversee his recovery following an isolation period, according to the statement.

“I am disappointed to miss the Pakistan series but look forward to rejoining the Australian squad for our next tour,” Mitchell Marsh said.

Positive Covid-19 tests for two Australian players, Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar, have ruled them out of the ongoing ODI series.

After a crushing 88-run triumph over Pakistan in the first match, Australia leads the series 1-0.

The remaining matches will take place in Lahore on Thursday and Saturday.

On April 5, Australia will play a single Twenty20 international at Lahore.

The Indian Premier League, the most valuable event in cricket, kicked off on March 26 with an expanded field of ten clubs.
