Taskin Ahmed & Shoriful Islam
Bangladesh fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam have been forced to return home due to injuries, according to chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
Taskin was unable to bowl on the third and fourth days of the first Test against South Africa in Durban due to a right shoulder injury.
Due to pain in his shoulder, he eventually had to leave the field.
“They are returning home as both of them are injured and we are not flying any substitute for them,” said BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
“We have four fast bowlers remaining in the squad. So we are covered.”
Due to ankle issues, Shoriful was ruled out of the first Test. On April 5, both players are anticipated to return home.
“Taskin had complained of right shoulder pain and difficulty of movement during the second day’s play in the first Test,” said National Team physio Bayjedul Islam.
“He has received physiotherapy, supportive taping and painkillers for bowling in the second innings. His recovery is expected to take around three weeks.”
“Shoriful felt pain on his left ankle during training on 29 March. An MRI confirmed a grade 1 ankle impingement syndrome with medial ligament injury. He has already started his rehab and is likely to resume training towards the end of this month.”
