Sites for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, which begins on June 9, have been confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The T20I series kicks off less than two weeks after the end of the IPL, with the opening match taking place in Delhi.
The five games will be spread out over 11 days, with the final game taking place in Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
This will be India’s third T20I series at home in 2022; earlier this year, they swept both the West Indies and Sri Lanka 3-0.
With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia just a few months away, the hosts will have plenty of opportunities to test their bench strength.
In the shortest format, India has a somewhat better record versus South Africa, having won nine of their 15 matches against the Proteas, with the Proteas winning six of them.
Pholetsi Moseki, the CEO of Cricket South Africa, is already looking forward to the series.
“We are ecstatic to add these matches to the Proteas men’s season schedule.”
“Our team is gearing up for a big white-ball season, with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later this year and the ICC World Cup in India next year,” he said.
“It goes without saying that game time is extremely important for our team as they work to perfect their combinations.”
“We are looking forward to cheering for our lads in what promises to be an exciting and contested series in a few weeks”, he added.
