The competitions will take place from December 1-4 in Melbourne’s Sandbelt area, with prize money split equally between men and women, according to Golf Australia.

The major host will be Victoria Golf Club for all four days, with Kingston Heath Golf Club hosting the opening two days.

For the first time, the DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour, will sanction the men’s event.

“This truly is a coup for Australian golf, it presents a great opportunity for the game and will take the two Open championships to another level,” Golf Australia chief executive James Sutherland said of the new arrangement.

“We have huge aspirations for this event. This new format will provide the springboard for a wonderful celebration of golf,” he added.

“The move aligns with our new national strategy and our ambitions to appeal to… new audiences.”

The coronavirus epidemic struck both the men’s and women’s Australian Open golf competitions last year.

Because to the virus, the men’s Australian Open, which has previously been won by Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, and Rory McIlroy, will be cancelled in 2020. It was the first time the show has been cancelled since 1945.
