Ronnie O’Sullivan had century break interrupted by female who took his shot

A female intruder once interrupted the century break of Ronnie O’Sullivan by taking his shot for him.

Until the 2017 English Open, the snooker world number one undoubtedly thought he’d seen it all in his illustrious career. When the lady appeared from the crowd and forced him to stop in his tracks, he was on his way to one of his famous tonnes.

Security tried to persuade her to “stay there” but she was having none of it. She said, “I’m just running around the pitch,” before telling O’Sullivan, “Keep going Ronnie.” And with a smirk on his face, he did just that.

The pink was potted while the middle-aged woman raced around the table, repeating, “I’m just running” The scene became increasingly odd just as it appeared she might be hauled out of the arena.

O’Sullivan agreed to give up his cue to give her a chance to beat Zhang Yong. “Do I get money if it goes in?” she replied.

According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, the 46-year-old has a net worth of $14 million (£10.73 million). The woman, however, was unable to pot the black, much to the amazement of no one.

Despite two efforts, she was unable to finish the game, bringing the odd occasion to a close. She expressed her gratitude to O’Sullivan for the opportunity and was whisked away.

“I really wanted her to pot it,” O’Sullivan told Eurosport after the match. “I didn’t know what to do at first and she just said ‘I’m just having a jog, I’m just going for a jog’.

“And I was like ‘Go on then, carry on then, there’s your jog, have a shot as well while you’re at it’. I thought when the [security] guys came out they were going to rugby tackle her, but I thought, ‘If you do that, you might kill her.’ I saved her from getting a rugby tackle.”
