VVS Laxman, current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will lead a Twenty20 team to Ireland, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

On June 26 and 28, India will play two T20 matches in Dublin.

“He will travel with the Indian team to Dublin,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, confirming that Laxman will lead the India T20 team in the absence of Rahul Dravid, who will be with an Indian team in England.

Last year, Dravid, then-head of the NCA, took a white ball team to Sri Lanka while Ravi Shastri was in England with the Test team.

Following the conclusion of the five-match home series against South Africa on June 19, the Indian T20 team will depart for Ireland. The winning team is yet to be determined.

NCCC claims that India game is sold out

Meanwhile, tickets for the county’s warm-up Twenty20 game against India on July 3 have sold out, according to the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC).

“Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are delighted to welcome the Indian men’s T20 side to The County Ground this summer after hosting the Indian women’s team last year,” the NCCC said.

“The match is practically sold out, so we’re anticipating a fantastic atmosphere and some excellent cricket. The match will also be webcast live for fans of both sides to watch from afar,” on Monday, a representative for the county told.

The match will be held at the Northampton County Ground (Wantage Road), which seats roughly 6500 people. Josh Cobb leads the Twenty20 team for the county.

The Indian squad will play three warm-up games during their month-long tour of England, starting with a four-day match against Leicestershire on June 24 and two T20 matches against Derbyshire on July 1 and Northampton on July 3.
