
If the 2021/22 Barcelona Femeni team can maintain their Champions League title against Lyon on Saturday, they will cement their place as one of the greatest teams in women’s football history.
The Spanish team, led by Jonatan Giraldez, enters the match against the French league leaders having completed a perfect league season, winning all 30 of their matches.
They have won 43 of their 44 matches in all competitions, with the exception of a 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg in the UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinal second leg – and that was only after they had won the first leg 5-1.

For the first time in the women’s top division in Spain this century, a team has won all of its league matches, with Barcelona winning 30 of 30. Barcelona scored 159 goals in 30 league matches in the 2012/13 season, conceding only 11. That works out to an average of 5.3 goals per game.
With this season’s league victory, they have now won seven trophies in total, putting them farther ahead of Athletic Bilbao, who have five titles.
Barcelona is likewise undefeated in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season, having lost only one of their ten games.
The Spanish champions almost had competition-high figures in both the attacking and defense categories heading into Saturday’s final in Turin.
