Batsman Tazmin Brits and Nonkululeko Mlaba, left-arm spinner, was among the 15 players named to Cricket South Africa’s central contracts list for the 2022/23 season.

Mignon du Preez and Nadine de Klerk were left out; du Preez confirmed her retirement from ODI cricket after ICC Women’s World Cup 2022, while de Klerk was unable to participate in the competition.

Since 2021, Brits and Mlaba have been regulars in the Proteas squad and have been given key contracts.

“It is with immense pleasure to announce next season’s squad of contracted players as they embark on their next challenge in world cricket, following a remarkable year for the Momentum Proteas, which saw the team climb to and maintain second place in the ODI world rankings.” Pholetsi Moseki, the CSA’s Chief Executive Officer, stated.

“The Proteas Women’s team has a hugely-anticipated schedule of international cricket in the next year, just like the previous 12 months, and we strongly believe in the set-up in place at the top of our women’s game to continue breaking boundaries and making their mark in the game.””

“Their dedication and work on and off the field has not gone unnoticed,” Moseki said, congratulating Brits and Mlaba on their contracts.

They will tour England from Ireland, playing a one-off Test followed by a white-ball series that will end on July 25.
