England’s new white-ball coach, Matthew Mott, is on the approach of being named.

Matthew Mott is the current head coach of Australia’s women’s team, who won the 50-over World Cup earlier this year after crushing England in the Ashes; Brendon McCullum was named England’s men’s Test captain last week.

Matthew Mott is on the verge of being named England’s next white-ball head coach, with the announcement likely this week.

Mott has been the coach of the Australian Women’s team since March 2015. Last month, he led the team to victory in the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, following a resounding victory over England in the multi-format Ashes series earlier this year.

Mott also led Australia to two T20 World Cup titles and a record 26-match winning streak in One-Day Internationals, which spanned the years 2018 to 2021.

Mott’s contract with Cricket Australia was extended in July 2021 until after the women’s Ashes in the UK in 2023, although he is currently in pole position to become England’s new white-ball coach.

Former England all-rounder Paul Collingwood, who served as temporary coach during the team’s most recent tour of the West Indies in March, is still in the running, but it is known that Mott is now the favored candidate, with a final decision and announcement likely by the end of the week.
