ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League resumes next week, and the Netherlands have picked a 16-man squad to face the West Indies in a series that kicks off a busy calendar of one-day international matches throughout the world.
For the three One Day Internationals, all of which will be contested in Amsterdam, Pieter Seelaar will continue as captain, with acting coach Ryan Cook selecting a generally settled squad.
The series against the West Indies begins off a fantastic international season for the Netherlands Men’s white-ball team, with home series against England and Pakistan scheduled for June and August, respectively.
West Indies and Pakistan series are both part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, which provides a pathway for teams to qualify for the next ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be hosted in India in late 2023.
Netherlands are currently in last place in the Super League standings, having won only two of their ten games thus far.
Only New Zealand and Afghanistan have played less Super League games than the Dutch, so there is plenty of room for them to climb the rankings.
West Indies are similarly languishing in tenth place, three places ahead of their forthcoming opponents, having lost ten of their 15 ODI matches.
The tourists will be missing Jason Holder, who is resting, and Evin Lewis, who was not selected, but have named an otherwise formidable 15-man lineup.
After taking over as captain from Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran’s squad will go to Pakistan for three further ODIs in Rawalpindi following the completion of the Dutch tour.
