Cheteshwar Pujara’s quality has been complimented by Mohammad Rizwan, who has elaborated on what he has learned from the Indian batter during their time together in County cricket.

The two are presently playing for Sussex in the County Championship Division Two. Pujara has been in fantastic form, hitting 717 runs at an average of 143.40 in four matches, including four hundreds.

In an April encounter against Durham, the two had a productive partnership of 154 runs.

Pujara’s focus abilities and ability to craft a long innings have particularly pleased Rizwan.

In an interview, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman lavished admiration on Pujara, rating him with fellow countrymen Younis Khan and Fawad Alam.

Rizwan explained, “Younis bhai is the player I’ve ever seen with the highest levels of attention and intensity. So Younis bhai is No. 1. Then came Fawad Alam, but today Pujara is second and Fawad Alam is third.”

Rizwan also disclosed some of Pujara’s batting advice, including how to play close to his body. “When I first arrived in England and got out a number of times, I had a conversation with Pujara. He advised me a few things, including the importance of playing close to your body.”

“We play a lot of white-ball cricket, and we play well away from the body because the white-ball doesn’t swing or seam as much, and you’re always searching for runs.”

He continued by saying, “So, early on, I went out chasing a couple of wide deliveries. ‘In Pakistan or Asia, we are accustomed to pressing our drives,’ he explained as I approached him at the nets. ‘Your drives will not be accepted here. Second, you must play more closely to your body.'”

Rizwan further added that playing alongside Pujara was not unusual for him and that the two had developed a nice rapport both on and off the court.

Rizwan further remarked that all international cricketers, regardless of nationality, were part of one giant family. “Believe me, it hasn’t made me feel uncomfortable at all.”

“I even make fun of him and tease him frequently. He is a lovely individual with incredible concentration and focus. You must take advantage of the opportunity to learn from someone else.”

“For us, the cricket community is like a family. However, if you are representing Pakistan and your brother is representing Australia, you will, of course, strive to get him out since you are representing your nation.”

“But that battle takes place exclusively on the ground. We’re like a family otherwise. I will not be incorrect if I say ‘our Virat Kohli.’ Because we are all one family, we can call each other ‘our Pujara,’ ‘our Smith,’ or ‘our Root.'” Rizwan came to a conclusion.
