Scot’s super-lightweight title has been vacated, according to WBA.

Josh Taylor has been deprived of his WBA super-lightweight title, the overseeing body reported on Saturday, with the Scottish contender since asserting he chose to abandon the belt.

Taylor’s latest protection came during February against Jack Catterall, when he was granted a questionable focuses win in Glasgow.

The WBA had requested a compulsory battle between Taylor, 31, and the first-positioned challenger Alberto Puello of the Dominican Republic.

Notwithstanding, the overseeing body expressed “because of the absence of reaction from Taylor’s group” the choice was made to strip the Scottish fighter of his title.

An assertion from the association read: “The World Boxing Association (WBA) titles board, as per the association’s principles, has concluded that the very lightweight title, which was held by the Scottish Josh Taylor, is empty as of May 13.”

Because of the declaration, Taylor, 31, took to web-based entertainment to demand he had settled on the choice himself.

In a post on Twitter, Taylor stated: “FYI, I abandoned it the belt I need (sic) stripped.”

Taylor has an undefeated record through 19 battles and stays the IBF, WBO and WBC champion.
