On Friday at the 2022 PGA Championship, all eyes will be on Tiger Woods’ group.
To begin with, Rory McIlroy had one of his finest starts to a major in his career, finishing Round 1 at 5 under par. Only Justin Thomas was ahead of him on the second day of the event. Jordan Spieth had big expectations, and while he got off to a sluggish start, he demonstrated why he was one of the early favorites to win the tournament.
Then there’s Woods, of course. The four-time PGA Championship winner got off to a quick start (2 under par over the opening five holes) but completed the day at 4 over par. Woods is now in risk of missing the cut. Woods also appeared to be suffering from a leg issue, which he claimed was hindering his game.
From the completion of his first round to the start of his second, Woods will have approximately 12 hours. In 2022, he wants to make the cut in his second major tournament.
