Caleb Swanigan, the former Homestead and Purdue standout who played in the NBA, has died at the age of 25.

Diet is crucial. It’s difficult for someone who’s lived with food poverty and an inexplicable circumstance. ESPN reports Swanigan noted the limitations of healthy eating.

“You think it’s something really small, but it just builds up,” he said. “One meal won’t kill you, but if it becomes three or four meals that are bad in a row, that’s when it starts to hurt your body.”

Caleb ‘Biggie’ Swanigan became smaller with Harrison Barnes’ guidance. Swanigan became a high school and collegiate basketball star. After committing to Michigan State, he selected Purdue. Swanigan was a McDonald’s All-American and Indiana’s Mr Basketball. Five years ago, Caleb Swanigan’s achievements looked unattainable.

Purdue standout Swanigan. He rebounded well. You have to go through him to score. His rebounding was better than his scoring. with 11 points, and 11 rebounds in his college debut. He got double-digit rebounds in 40 of 69 college games. He had 20+ rebounds four times as a sophomore. That sophomore season was amazing. Forget my 40 double-digit rebounds. He had 29 double-digit rebound games as a sophomore. He had 6 seasons without double-digit rebounds. It’s unmatched in my experience. Ball sense. College recovery takes work. An effortful man changed his body and life.

Caleb Swanigan’s life was filled with highs and lows. Following his imprisonment, I hoped Swanigan would do what he does best: rebound. To anticipate the next move and then go up and grab it. That wasn’t going to happen. Now, the life that had all the makings of a happy ending ends in tears rather than celebrations.
