Nedum Onuoha and Vincent Kompany will bring players to Burnley who the club would not otherwise be able to bring in.

He was appointed Clarets manager on Tuesday after guiding Anderlecht until his departure in May.

After joining City from Hamburg in 2008, the 36-year-old won ten major championships with Onuoha.

“Most people who play now have seen him play or played against him and know what he represented,” Onuoha said.

“If he comes to you and says ‘I want you to come here and play for me’, he will be able to sell what it is to play for Burnley,” he told .

“That doesn’t ensure success, but you almost feel guilty saying the timing isn’t right now.” Vincent Kompany, a highly important name, wants you to be there.

“You’ll undoubtedly acquire a few gamers who wouldn’t have joined otherwise.” Maybe in ten years we’ll be talking about him as we’re talking about Sean Dyche.”

He was fired in April, with eight games left in the season, after winning only four Premier League games, the league’s poorest record at the time.

Kompany was the manager of Anderlecht for two years until resigning by mutual consent in May, after leading the club to third place in Belgium’s premier division.

And Onuoha feels his English football knowledge will help him at Turf Moor.

“You could find some foreign managers who don’t understand Burnley or the Championship,” added Onuoha.

However, Onuoha feels the Belgian may benefit from his experience as captain of City’s incredible era of success.

“He was one of the few people when I was at City who could speak to everybody in the dressing room because he spoke so many languages,” he added.

“He realised that the whole of any system is about everyone and making sure everyone is on the same page and working hard, not just the guys who are starting and playing extremely well.”
