Uwe Seeler scored 43 objectives in 72 games for West Germany Between 1954-70 and was commander for 40 of them.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said Germany had lost quite possibly of its most noteworthy player.

“After Fritz Walter, he was the second privileged commander of the DFB, an icon for ages, a genuine good example,” Neuendorf said in a proclamation.
