Uwe Seeler Former Germany striker dies at the age of 85

• Uwe Seeler, who captained West Germany in their 1966 World Cup.
• Last loss by England, kicked the bucket on Thursday at 85 years old.
• The country’s football affiliation (DFB) and his previous club Hamburg said.

Uwe Seeler scored 43 objectives in 72 games for West Germany Between 1954-70 and was commander for 40 of them.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said Germany had lost quite possibly of its most noteworthy player.

“After Fritz Walter, he was the second privileged commander of the DFB, an icon for ages, a genuine good example,” Neuendorf said in a proclamation.

“A large number of his objectives are remarkable, like his unbelievable hit with the rear of the head in the quarter-finals of the 1970 World Cup against England.”

Hamburg said he scored 507 objectives for them in 587 cutthroat games, making him the club’s record scorer. He assisted them with coming out on top for the German title in 1959-60.
