Afghanistan level T20 series with Ireland at 2-2
With a win by 27 runs on Monday in a match that was shortened to 11 overs-a-side due to rain, Afghanistan forced the fifth and final Twenty20 match in the series against Ireland to be a decider.
Najibullah Zadran scored 50 runs off 24 balls, while Rashid Khan went unout after scoring 31 runs off 10 deliveries to help the visitors amass an amazing total of 132-6.
The opening pair of Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie helped Ireland get off to a strong start with their batting, but once both of them were out of the game within the first four overs, George Dockrell’s unbeaten 41 was the only thing that stood in the way of Afghanistan’s dominant bowling performance.
Rashid and Naveen-ul-Haq both picked up two wickets, while Fareed Ahmad took three of the fourteen wickets he took.
Wednesday is the day that will determine who wins the series.
