Miguel Angel Lopez of Spain was victorious in the men’s 35 km race walk competition that took place on Tuesday at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.
Lopez, who is now 34 years old and was the world champion over 20 kilometres in 2015 and the European champion over the same distance in 2014, won the gold medal with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 49 seconds.
Christopher Linke of Germany won the silver medal, finishing 2 minutes and 41 seconds behind the winner, while Matteo Giupponi of Italy won the bronze medal, finishing in 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
Antigoni Ntrismpioti of Greece came in first place in the women’s race walk with a time of 2:47.00. This gave Greece the victory.
Silver was won by Raquel Gonzalez of Spain, who finished 2 minutes and 10 seconds behind the winner. Viktoria Madarasz of Hungary came in third place, 48 seconds behind Madarasz.
