India beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs in their T20 World Cup match on Sunday at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia and finished as winners of Group 2.  In the next round, they will play the second-place team from Group 1, which is England.

Zimbabwe was in trouble right away when they lost their first batsman, Wesley Madhevere, on the first ball of their innings. They needed to score 187 runs to win.

After Regis Chakabva was bowled by Arshdeep Singh, he did the same thing. Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl tried to finish the innings, but Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Burl for 30 runs with a bowl. The numbers that came out of the spinner were 3 and 22.

Then, Zimbabwe kept losing wickets while the Indian bowlers were having a field day in the middle.

Suryakumar Yadav, batting first, helped India reach 186 for five in their final T20 World Cup group stage game against Zimbabwe on Sunday. Surya hit an undefeated 55 off 24 balls with six fours and four sixes. Mumbaikars scored 79 runs in the last five overs.

Zimbabwe’s left-arm spinners Wellington Masakadza (0/12 in 2 overs), Sikandar Raza (1/18 in 3 overs), and Sean Williams (2/9 in 2 overs) bottled up Virat Kohli from overs 7 to 15. (26 off 25 balls).

But Surya and Hardik Pandya (18 off 18 balls) added 65 runs in just 5.5 overs to cancel out the good work done by Craig Ervine’s slow bowlers.
