Babar Azam has more international fifties than any other Pakistani batter
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, set a new milestone on Saturday in Karachi against England after scoring fifty runs in the third and final Test.
Azam has already scored 23 international fifties or more in 2022, more than any other Pakistani batter in a single year.
Former captain Misbah ul Haq previously held the record with 22 50-plus scores in 2013.
Azam has a total of 23 50-plus scores, including 16 fifties and seven centuries.

Kumar Sangakkara, a great batsman from Sri Lanka, has the record for the most scores of 50 or more in a calendar year, with 25 in 2014. Ricky Ponting of Australia is in second place with 24 runs in 2005.
Along with Azam, Sourav Ganguly of India and Joe Root of England each have 23 scores of 50 or more in a year.
Azam won the coin toss and chose to bat first against England in the third Test on Saturday.
With victories of 74 and 26 runs, respectively, in Rawalpindi and Multan, England has taken an early 2-0 lead in the series, marking their first Test tour of Pakistan since 2005.
The tourists made two changes from the last Test. Instead of James Anderson and Will Jacks, they brought in wicketkeeper Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed.
Since Brian Close set the record in 1949 at 18 years and 149 days, Rehan has became the youngest player to make his England debut at the age of 18 years and 126 days.
On Friday, Pakistan’s senior batter Azhar Ali said that the Karachi Test would be his last. He is one of four changes to the home team.
Shan Masood, Mohammad Wasim Junior, and Nauman Ali also make the team, but Imam-ul-Haq (who was hurt), Mohammad Nawaz, Zahid Mahmood, and Mohammad Ali did not.
Wasim is 21 years old, and this is his first time competing in the Test Match.
