Former Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir has dispelled rumours by stating that he is not currently considering coming out of retirement.

The famous pacer claimed that he is instead concentrating on the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL), in which he will represent Karachi Kings as their brand ambassador.

In order to be prepared for his involvement in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2023, the fast bowler has also been practising at the National High Performance Center (NHPC). Amir claimed that he asked Najam Sethi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, for permission to train the NHPC.

“Najam Sethi was kind enough to allow me to train at the NHPC.”

In December 2020, Amir announced his retirement from international cricket, blaming the PCB management for subjecting him to “mental torment” and creating a “hostile environment” for him.

The fast bowler was anticipated to come out of retirement earlier this year after Ramiz Raja, the former PCB chairman, declared his intention to step down.

Although the PCB chairmanship has changed, Amir has stated that he still has no plans to leave retirement and is instead concentrating on the 8th season of PSL. He continued, “If Allah wills, I will play for Pakistan again,” giving fans hope for his comeback. Amir also praised the Pakistani team’s effort in the first Test in Karachi, which ended in a draw. He said, “Saud Shakeel and Imam-ul-Haq Sarfaraz Ahmed batted well.”

It is important to note that Ramiz Raja stated in a recent interview that “selection” was the reason Amir was not chosen for the team.

“Amir’s membership in the team is based on selection criteria,” he remarked.

He added that he didn’t have it in his possession. Should Haris Rauf or Wasim Junior be benched in favour of Amir, or should Shaheen be designated the 12th player? He berated the young men for putting cricket before Twitter and politics.
