Pakistan search for wickets while New Zealand makes steady progress
At lunch on the third day of the first Test between New Zealand and Pakistan in Karachi, they were at 245-2. The visitors are still 193 runs behind after Pakistan’s first innings on Tuesday when they were out for 438.
New Zealand started the morning session with 165-0 in their first innings. They lost two wickets in the morning.

Abrar Ahmed sent Tom Latham back to the hut, but not before he scored a great hundred. With the help of 10 fours, the left-hander scored 113 runs.
At the same time, Nauman Ali caught Devon Conway before the stumps, stopping him eight runs short of his century.
Latham and Conway added 183 runs to the score before the first wicket fell. This gave their team a strong start.

Salman’s 103 was made up of 155 balls and 17 fours. He and Nauman Ali scored 54 important runs together after the seventh wicket fell. Nauman Ali played a tough inning of seven runs in 75 balls.
The Kiwis were close to getting Pakistan out for less than 400 runs, but Salman and the last two batsmen added 63 runs to keep them from doing so.
Tim Southee got three wickets, and Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell, and Ajax Patel each got two.
