New Zealand started the morning session with 165-0 in their first innings....
Why wasn’t Rizwan allowed to lead Pakistan during Karachi Test?
KARACHI: Sarfaraz Ahmed took over as stand-in captain in the absence of captain Babar Azam. Mohammad Rizwan could not be captain because he was not in the playing 11.
On day three of the first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand, Rizwan, who is the 12th man, was seen leading the team in place of Babar Azam. However, the match referee told the team management that Rizwan cannot lead the team.
The flu kept Azam and Salman Agha from playing. Rizwan is the vice-captain of the Pakistan Test team, but he didn’t play in the first Test because he needed a break.
Rizwan went out on the field without the captain and was seen setting up the field when the match referee told the Pakistan team that, according to ICC rules, a 12th man could not be a stand-in captain.
After that, Sarfaraz was the captain, and Devin Conway’s LBW call was reviewed by him.
Shan Masood, who bats left-handed, was late to the field because he had the flu. A spokesperson for Pakistan said that Ahsan Nagi, who was in charge of the media, also had the flu and would not be at the stadium today.
A spokesperson said that players have been told to be careful.
