Shoaib Malik, who used to be the captain of the national cricket team, said that Sarfaraz Ahmed should be on the national one-day international team because the white-ball World Cup is coming up soon. Malik said that the wicketkeeper batter will show what he’s made of in the next tournament.

After being away from the national Test team for four years, Sarfaraz came back. After taking the place of wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, he made 86 runs in his first Test since 2019 and was put back in the team.

The wicketkeeper-batsman had a great 196-run partnership with the captain, Babar Azam, until Ajaz Patel took him out when he edged a ball to Mitchell at first slip, just before the end of the game.

Shoaib Malik praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) interim chief selector Shahid Afridi for choosing Sarfaraz to play against New Zealand in the Karachi Test match.

On the first day of the first Test, which took place Monday at Karachi’s National Stadium, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, hit 161 runs without being out. This helped the team score 317-5 after a slow start.

Babar Azam and Agha Salman are currently at the crease. Babar Azam has 161 runs, and Agha Salman has 3.

Shoaib Malik said in a tweet that it was a good idea for Afridi to pick Sarfaraz for the Test. He said that the World Cup for cricket with a white ball is coming up soon, so Sarfaraz should also be on the ODI team.

Malik said that the wicketkeeper-batsman will be very useful in the middle overs.

Shoaib also gave Babar a lot of praise for his great century.

Shahid Afridi praised Sarfaraz Ahmed for how he played in the Green Shirts’ first game against New Zealand in the two-game Test series at Karachi’s National Stadium.

“Sarfaraz proved his selection right, excellent performance for him under pressure,” the former Pakistan skipper tweeted.

Last week, Afridi was named as the head of the interim selection committee. He is a member of the PCB’s newly formed management committee.

The former all-rounder said he didn’t want to be on the board full-time. The members will be Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. The meeting will be led by Haroon Rashid, who is also a member of the PCB management committee.
