Shoaib Malik stated Sarfaraz Ahmed should be in the national ODI squad for the upcoming World Cup. Malik has faith that the wicketkeeper batter will show his value in the upcoming competition.

After a four-year hiatus, Sarfaraz is back on the national Test team. He made 86 runs in his first Test since 2019 when he was brought in to bat in place of wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.

After sharing in a brilliant 196-run stand with captain Babar Azam, the wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed by Ajaz Patel, who edged a ball to Mitchell at first slip just before the end of the game.

Shoaib Malik praised Shahid Afridi, the interim chief selector for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Twitter for his decision to start Sarfaraz in the Test match against New Zealand in Karachi.

Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, scored an unbeaten 161 on the opening day of the first Test at Karachi’s National Stadium on Monday, helping his team recover from a slow start to post a total of 317-5.

Both Babar Azam (161) and Agha Salman (3) are at the crease for their respective teams.

On Twitter, Shoaib Malik praised Afridi for starting Sarfaraz in the Test. He said that Sarfaraz should play in both one-day internationals and Tests because the World Cup for white-ball cricket is quickly approaching.

According to Malik, the wicketkeeper-batsman will prove to be especially valuable in the middle overs.

Babar received a lot of compliments from Shoaib, who said he was “outstanding” for his century.

In the meantime, Shahid Afridi lauded Sarfaraz Ahmed’s effort for the Green Shirts in the first Test match against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.

“Sarfaraz proved his selection right, excellent performance for him under pressure,” the former Pakistan skipper tweeted.
