Sidra Ameen, the Pakistani opener, has received the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for the first time in recognition of her outstanding batting performance in November.

During the home ODI series against Ireland, Ameen scored 277 runs, including the fifth-highest individual score in women’s ODI history in the first game in Lahore.

In that match, the Pakistani opener scored an unbeaten 176 off 151 balls, combining with her partner Muneeba Ali, who also reached 100, for a record-setting 221-run first-wicket partnership.

Additionally, Pakistan’s century was the first to score over 150 in ODIs for women. She continued to contribute brilliantly to the series at the same location, scoring 91* in the second game to help Pakistan win the series.

Ameen is the highest-ranked Pakistani batswoman on the list and moved up to 22nd on the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings. It was understandable that Ameen was overjoyed to get the monthly prize.

She said, “I feel wonderful to have received this prize. It is particularly noteworthy since my teammate Nida Dar received the October award. This demonstrates that our team has put on some outstanding international cricket performances in recent months.”

“I’d like to dedicate this honour to my parents and to everyone who has ever prayed for my success and supported me. I will always hold a special place in my heart for my batting display against Ireland, which enabled the team to whitewash Ireland in the ODI series at home.”

“I’ve had a wonderful year personally; I’ve scored three ODI century, all of which have come this year.”

“And to top it off, winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for November to conclude the year is just great,” she continued.

Ameen was a deserving winner, according to ICC Hall of Famer and voting panelist Lisa Sthalekar.

“When you have the chance to get 100 points, it is a great moment. But for Sidra to go on and make it a huge one, 176 and then to follow it up with 91 in the very next match, this demonstrates not only that she has the talents, but she also has the temperament.”
