Alyssa Healy picked up calf injury during Australia’s trip to India
Alyssa Healy, Australian wicketkeeper-battter, will miss the T20I series against Pakistan because of a calf injury she picked up during the team’s trip to India.
Healy, who took Meg Lanning’s place as Australia’s captain during that nation’s tour of India, will remain with the crew for the duration of the series as she continues to rehabilitate.
Despite missing the three T20 games, Healy is expected to be available for the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in February, according to a statement from Cricket Australia. The wicketkeeper-batter will travel to South Africa for the major competition without having participated in any prior games.
In Australia’s batting order, Healy’s absence allows way for Lanning and Beth Mooney, who are playing cricket again after a four-month layoff.
Mooney, who is also Australia’s backup wicketkeeper, will don the gloves in Healy’s absence.
Australia will play Pakistan in three one-day internationals (ODIs), starting in Brisbane on January 16, before the T20 internationals begin in Sydney on January 24.
The three ODIs will be played on January 16, 18, and 21, and the three T20Is will be played on January 24, 26, and 29.
The Pakistani team will depart from Melbourne for South Africa after the white-ball series against Australia to compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023.
