Andy Robertson praised manager Jurgen Klopp
Andy Robertson, a left back for Liverpool, praised manager Jurgen Klopp and said that the latter was crucial in bringing the best performance out of his team.
Since transferring from Hull City to Liverpool in the summer of 2017, Robertson has been crucial to the Reds’ success.
“The boss has been great,” Robertson stated on the ‘We Are Liverpool’ podcast. “He and his crew have made us all better players.
“Sometimes, when I replay previous games – ones from four or five years ago – and look at how I played and how I’m playing now, that’s when you notice how much you’ve developed. That’s because of the coaching, the training, and being given opportunities in important games. “He [Klopp] has been exceptional for this club and wonderful for all of us,” he added.
Robertson also discussed his family, saying that the ideals established in him by his mother and father had guided him throughout his life.
“We never had a lot of money, but we had a roof over our heads and food on the table, and you have to realize how lucky you are sometimes,” he remarked.
“That is something that many take for granted. My parents provided an excellent upbringing for my brother and myself.
“They were always charitable, and my aunts and uncles were as well. That is something we have all been taught: you can always help others.”
It should be mentioned that Robertson started his own charity in Scotland in 2020, and his charitable efforts also helped him earn an MBE in the 2018 New Year’s Honours list.
He is now determined to instil those values in his children and to keep his son and daughter grounded.
“Me and my missus are well aware of that… We realise they’re in a better position than, say, we were [as kids] in terms of having money and being able to set them up for life. They must, however, forge their own path and demonstrate a strong work ethic. My children are still too little, but you can gradually introduce them to it.
“If they perform properly all week, they get goodies. That’s what we always got; if we did well during the week, my mother would always buy us a takeaway or a pack of sweets on a Saturday night. That’s what we’re attempting to instil in the children.”
