Atletico Madrid held to 1-1 draw by Almeria in La Liga

• Espanyol defeated Getafe 2-1.
• Enes Unal and Javi Puado scored the game-winning goals.
• Atletico are tied for fourth place with Villarreal and Real Betis.

Atletico Madrid lost two more points on Sunday as a result of being held to a 1-1 draw by Almeria in LaLiga, which was yet another dismal conclusion.

Before Almeria’s El Bilal Toure equalized for them in the 37th minute, Diego Simeone’s squad took an early lead through Angel Correa in the 18th minute.

Atletico Madrid was kept at bay by a first-half attempt that was disallowed for offside and second-half stops by Almeria goalkeeper Fernando Martinez to stop Alvaro Morata and Correa.

When Sergio Regulation received two yellow cards in the last minutes, 20 minutes after entering the game as a substitute, the frustration of the visiting team increased.

Atletico, who has only triumphed in one of their last six La Liga contests—and that was against last-place Elche—is currently tied for fourth place with Villarreal and Real Betis on 28 points.

They are 13 points off of Barcelona, who is in first place and has a game remaining.

Earlier, Javi Puado scored the game-winning goal in the second half to help Espanyol defeat Getafe 2-1.

Espanyol took the lead in the sixth minute when Joselu lobbed David Soria, but Enes Unal immediately equalized the game with a magnificent effort of his own from wide left.

Puado, on the other hand, gained points for his team with a single move and brilliant finish in the 62nd minute, allowing Espanyol leapfrog Getafe in the rankings on the 14th.
