WATCH: Babar Azam returns to action ahead of the PSL 8
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi, has returned to action ahead of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Babar began his training at Lahore’s National High Performance Center. He is practising for the first time since the New Zealand series.
The batter batted with NHPC coaches and individual trainers during a three-hour training session.
Babar began intensive training to prepare for the PSL.
Babar was named Yellow Storm captain after joining the 2017 champions from Karachi Kings.
On Tuesday, Babar was named to the ICC Test Team of the Year for 2022, and he was also named captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2022.
After a lively opening ceremony, the PSL 8 will begin on February 13 with defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on 2021 champions Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Meanwhile, the PSL 8 replacement draught, which was scheduled for January 24, has been rescheduled for January 25 due to a nationwide power outage on Monday.
According to the PCB, franchises requested more time to finalise their selections.
The PCB has also approved franchises’ request to expand the pool of players. Franchises will now select two players from the supplementary category to round out a squad of 20.
