FIR registered against Indian hockey legend Sandeep Singh

Sandeep Singh, Indian hockey star and Haryana Sports Minister, has been charged with harassment, illegal detention, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation in a FIR filed by Chandigarh police on Saturday evening.

After a female trainer reported the minister to the police on Friday, this transpired.

An independent investigation has been promised to me. Concerning my safety, I also brought it up. On my various social media platforms, I have started receiving threatening threats. The coach was quoted as saying in The private source, “I have stopped attending phone calls out of fear.”

A representative for the Chandigarh police department has also verified the filing of a FIR.

According to the spokesman, “an FIR under sections 354, 354A, 354B, 342, 506 of the IPC has been recorded at the Sector 26 police station, Chandigarh, and investigation is underway in relation to a complaint made by a lady coach of Haryana against the Haryana Sports Minister.”

Note that Singh has called the accusations “baseless” and denied them.

The former Indian captain and penalty corner expert was elected as an MLA for the state assembly in 2019 on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) platform. After then, he was officially appointed as Haryana’s sports minister.
