The Namibian team, led by Erasmus, shocked Sri Lanka in the tournament’s opening game to earn a spot in the T20 World Cup for the second time in a row.
In the team’s second straight T20 World Cup campaign, “Erasmus’ batting performances benefited the team, and leading his side to victory over Sri Lanka to begin the campaign will no doubt be his highlight,” Read the statement from ICC.
Last year, Erasmus established himself in one-day international cricket with a game-winning innings of 121 runs against Oman in Dubai. The right-hander then went on to score eight half-centuries throughout the year.
Erasmus continued to hone his batting techniques in the shortest version of the game, scoring an undefeated century against Uganda in a home T20I series before significantly contributing to his team’s historic T20I series victory over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
